collaboration + brainstorming
When we begin brainstorming I like to know what elements, styles, color and feel you desire - especially when it comes to making your brand or logo. I want to know the message you want to send, how you want to be perceived and as many details as you can give. I consider what you have told me, create designs that meet your criteria and send you some numbered work. Depending on what we are creating, this is usually anywhere from 5-20 designs. I also send a list of font families I have used. While it would be great if there is a logo that you feel is the one, I know that often is not the reality. My idea is for you to come back with thoughts such as "I like the layout of #5, the icon in #15 but also the fonts in #3 and#12." Then I create a design combining these elements. I want you to know as my client that I am here to create for you and make your vision come to life. Design is so subjective and the reality of it is that ten different people could favor ten different creations. I want you to finish our work with me knowing you're satisfied with what we have made and that you are ready to show off the creation.
the process in real life

Below is an example of the initial brainstorming design with a realtor. She was the perfect example of a working "collaboration" and it was so much fun. During our first phone conversation, we dove straight into her dreams of her brand and what she desired in her new logo. We discussed her current logo and where we would go from there. She explained that she wanted her brand to feel luxurious, elegant, sophisticated, creative, fun, honest and trustworthy. She described the message she wanted to deliver to people was that her brand was knowledgeable, approachable, honest, humorous and really embodied the feel of first class service. We discussed themes, colors, and ideas of how she wanted this executed. She mentioned the use of incorporating an airplane while illustrating a patriotic feel.  She really knew what she wanted out of her logo and brand which made working with her such an incredible experience. She looked at the initial logo designs created and came back with her thoughts and the direction we would go. Once we perfected the logo, we then worked towards her business card, envelopes, marketing mailers, and for sale signs all using the brands feel we created during the logo design. By collaborating and using the trial and error method, I was able to create a design and brand for my client which went beyond her expectations.

"I'm just loving your work so much and am so happy that I realized I need help with my own branding!! I wasn't satisfied with what I created for myself in the past. I realize that having the best minds as a collaboration will produce much better results! Thank you so much."
